I’m Chessie. I have been a licensed teacher in Virginia for eight years, and have taught a range of subjects. My degree is in Liberal Arts with a focus in Elementary and Special Education with a math minor.
I have taught Algebra 1, 7th grade, 5th grade, 4th grade, 2nd grade, and 1st grade. I have taught both general education and special education. My background has allowed me to interact with many different kids and methods of learning.

I have tutored many as well, from teaching them to read, to helping them prep for the SAT and get through a tough intro college math class.
My work within several school systems has provided me with a great deal of knowledge in different subjects and approaches. My goal is to meet my students where they are and give the confidence they need to realize that they can accomplish anything, even Algebra! There is nothing like the feeling when something clicks, and I love helping kids get that.
My absolute favorite is teaching kids how to read, and I have extensive knowledge in research based methods.
