Hi there! My name is Emily, and one of my biggest passions is music. I have played the piano for 14 years, as well as a variety of stringed instruments. I have a certificate in applied music and am currently pursuing an associates degree in music. I have taken all of the required music courses including music theory 1-4, receiving a grade of A in each of them. Because I am in the midst of my degree I know firsthand what these courses require of you, and am excited to help you as a student...
Because I am in the midst of my degree I know firsthand what these courses require of you, and am excited to help you as a student succeed in them.
The years of experience I have playing a variety of instruments and my knowledge from advanced music theory courses allows me to easily explain complex topics, to beginners as well as advancing students. I know for a lot of students music theory is one of the hardest music related courses you will take. As your tutor I want to provide you with a pleasant and encouraging space for you to learn and ask questions. I will also attempt to apply what is being learned in music theory to your particular instrument. I will work with all ages, but have experience with children, teens, and college age adults.
I am currently offering to tutor music theory online only. Although I do not teach online instrument lessons, I am more than happy to give extra help to those already taking lessons, being self-taught, or those who want a head start on learning the basics before lessons begin. For college music theory, I can assist you with topics such as voice leading, counterpoint, Roman numeral analysis, advanced chords, basic aural skills & sight singing.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you reach your goals as a student and musician!
