Hi, I’m Hazel! I’m a graduate of the College of William & Mary, where I studied Public Policy and Data Science. I’ve always been an avid reader, writer, and researcher, and I’m passionate about helping students build both skills and confidence through thoughtful, personalized tutoring.
I began tutoring in high school as a way to give back to my community and have continued ever since. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with students and families, helping learners gain confidence in reading, writing, and analytical thinking. Beyond one-on-one tutoring, I’ve also supported students globally by writing articles and creating educational resource lists that have reached thousands of readers. Making educational resources more accessible and equitable is a core value of mine, and tutoring is one of the most meaningful ways I pursue that goal.
I have extensive experience tutoring SAT Reading & Writing, as well as English from the elementary through high school levels. I scored a 780 on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section on my first attempt, using strategies I developed through research and practice, and I enjoy teaching these strategies to students in a clear and approachable way. I’ve also been proofreading and providing detailed feedback on writing since middle school, including reviewing over 50 college application essays through the past 5 admissions cycles.
In addition to humanities subjects, I have a strong background in economics. I took over eight economics courses in college and can tutor Introductory Microeconomics and Macroeconomics at the college level, as well as AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics. I currently work with C2 Education, where I teach SAT Prep and AP-level humanities subjects, and I’m experienced in adapting lessons to meet each student’s learning style and goals.
