My name is Madison! I'm currently studying History and Secondary Education at James Madison University. Educating has always been a passion of mine, and I'm so excited to be working toward my teaching license while being able to help students through tutoring on the side. Although I'm studying history, I also have experience tutoring 3rd-grade math and high school English. I'm incredibly flexible as a tutor and apply structured, individualized lesson plans. Additionally, I write my own questions and create my own materials to work with to make each session more personalized. I love working in the interests shared with me by students as I've found it helps them better connect with and take an interest in the content.
I did freelance tutoring throughout high school and then switched to working for a company doing elementary school math tutoring as I entered college. However, I'm looking to get back into freelance so I can do what I specialize in. Prior to starting tutoring, I'll ask about a free consultation to pinpoint students' needs and goals as well as get a feel for their individual learning styles. I have experience working on multiple different online platforms, so I can easily adapt to what is most comfortable for students. Also, I look to accommodate different learning needs as it is ultimately my goal to make tutoring easy and fun as well as productive.
