Bio

I'm Connor! I graduated with honors from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. During my time at UVA, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Database Systems, where I helped students understand course material, worked through problems with them, and supported them in developing stronger technical skills.

I'm Connor! I graduated with honors from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. During my time at UVA, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Database Systems, where I helped students understand course material, worked through problems with them, and supported them in developing stronger technical skills.

I also have hands-on industry experience in both software engineering and data engineering, as well as experience as an undergraduate research assistant at UVA. These experiences have given me a strong foundation in programming, databases, data structures and algorithms, and practical software development.

I primarily tutor middle/high school and college students in computer science and programming. I can help with topics such as Python, SQL and databases, data structures and algorithms, programming fundamentals, debugging, and other foundational CS coursework.

My approach is focused on understanding rather than memorization. When a student is stuck, I try to identify exactly where the confusion begins and break the problem down into smaller pieces until the underlying concept becomes clear. I want students to leave a session not only knowing how to solve the problem in front of them, but also feeling more confident about solving similar problems independently.

I have extensive SQL experience from my Computer Science degree, my work as a Database Systems TA, and my professional experience in Data Engineering. I have worked with complex queries, joins, aggregations, subqueries, window functions, data modeling, and relational databases. In my experience as a Data Engineer, I used SQL extensively to build data pipelines and analyze large datasets. I can help students understand SQL fundamentals while also teaching them how to approach more complex database problems.
