Hi there! I am currently in my 27th year of teaching high school chemistry. Hi there! I am currently in my 27th year of teaching high school chemistry. I was named 2010 Virginia Region III Teacher of the Year and was one of the eight finalists for the 2010 State Teacher of the year; I am also a National Board Certified Teacher of chemistry. (Only 3% of teachers nationwide have earned this certification!) I have taught over 3600 students in my career.
My first experience as a tutor was in fourth grade, when I tutored a first grader in reading. Even then, I really enjoyed explaining something and seeing somebody finally get it! As a high school student, I tutored an eighth grader in math, and he managed to pass Pre-Algebra! Throughout college and graduate school, I also found that no matter who figured out something in my study groups, I was usually the one who ended up explaining it to the group. That experience led to my decision to pursue a career as a professional educator.
I truly enjoy helping students understand chemistry. Chemistry, by its nature, can be a challenging course, and a good teacher makes all the difference! I have already helped literally thousands of students pass high school chemistry, and I'd like a chance to help you. If you are willing to do the work, I can help you be successful!
