At Project Canaan, we have over 300 students between the ages of 1 to 14. I worked with the Project Canaan Academy in teaching them all subjects as well as managing their physical activity and meal times.
my method is to be a friend until I must be the authority figure. I lay this out early to the student. I am a resource for them and they are my number one priority. I will defend and help them in any way I can but if the work isn't being done or my requests aren't being followed, I can no longer be the nice guy and I have to be more stern as necessary. Over 20 years of dealing with children of various ages has taught me to go easy but remain firm.
Most of my experience is in a traditional classroom setting but over the course of my various global work projects I have taught in old churches, in fields, and by the sea. So no matter the location, I can focus and can have the student focus.
I am very organized, patient, caring, and intelligent. These attributes will help the student learn and love learning like I do.
