Hello! My name is Marsha. I have been teaching Elementary students since 2008, but my specialty is teaching struggling readers of all ages. I have always been passionate about reading and I have discovered that students who "hate" to read only feel that way because they lack the skills and the confidence to do so. It is my job to assess each individual to find what skills they are missing, and begin building and strengthening those skills immediately!

I have an Education degree from James Madison University. I am not a "cookie cutter" teacher. All of my lessons are specifically created with the individual needs of each student in mind. I am always looking for creative and exciting ways to help my students learn, so, if something is not working for a student, we disregard that technique immediately and try a different approach.
For three years I worked extensively with students who were developmentally behind in reading and writing. I developed my own curriculum, implementing hands-on activities and technology to develop and build the skills that these students needed to learn how to recognize letters and sounds, write their names, and eventually learn to read.
I work closely with students and parents to set specific goals, monitor progress, and celebrate milestones. I am easy to reach and respond quickly, so please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule a tutoring session.
