My name is Niraj P. and I want to start by explaining my passion for teaching, specifically tutoring 1 on 1. I enjoy using my knowledge to find unique ways to help others understand and become proficient and confident in whatever subject they struggle with. My specialty is Mathematics as it has made the most sense to me out of all other subjects and I have always been quick to grasp new concepts. From the very beginning of my journey with Math in elementary school, up until the present, I have loved learning new Mathematical formulas and techniques to be able to understand and teach more efficiently. My love for tutoring also began around the same time in high school, where I led a study hall group for other students who needed/wanted a little extra help in physics, algebra, statistics, geometry, and calculus. My love for maths led me to pursue my major in computer engineering alongside a minor in applied mathematics at the University of Virginia.
My background with tutoring includes leading a Study Hall group in high school, volunteering at Jubilee Early Learning Center (a non-profit organization in my hometown that provided after-school tutoring to children from lower-income households/communities), Kumon while I was still in high school and also during my undergrad years, and while in college I had several classmates who would pay me to help them with subjects they were having a hard time with. I have experience tutoring students of all ages from 6-year-olds to collegiate students. I enjoy tutoring younger children as they are easier to mold and grasp new concepts and ideas quicker than their older counterparts. I also have experience as a substitute math teacher at the elementary school I attended in my hometown.
So all together I'd say I have over 10+ years of tutoring experience. I prefer 1 on 1 tutoring because it allows me to focus on the tutee and develop a personalized plan to help them succeed as I believe every individual learns differently.
