Faiza is an amazing teacher!
Maali, 44 lessons with FaizaWe are so lucky we found Faiza on the first try! My daughter (11) has learned so much from her, and it has been an excellent experience for her! She’s patient, supportive but knows how to motivate her students. She’s great at building confidence and keeping lessons fun and engaging through a variety of activities that improve conversation, writing, and reading skills. I recommend her highly.
Hi There,
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio!

Seems like a great instructor for children!
I had several wonderful lessons with Faiza! She is very knowledgeable, kind, and focuses on engaging students with conversation and games. I think she would be a perfect instructor for a young student with external motivations for learning Arabic. I have taken quite a few Arabic classes and have been studying continuously for a couple years - but there is a large discrepancy between my Arabic book learning and my ability to actually activate all that knowledge in conversation. I was hoping Faiza could be a part of a "virtual immersion" curricula in which I will spend about an hour a day with multiple instructors (multiple hours of 1-on-1 conversation with native speakers per day). In this type of "instruction" (called "The Natural Approach") the focus is on building fluency by making use of the language second nature. This requires the same kind of instruction one would give to a young child; telling students the stories from a children's book in a simplified way and focusing on "Comprehensive Input". This approach seems very similar to some of Faiza's approach, so I was very hopeful she would be a good instructor for me! However, I think she is accustomed to young children whose parents have enrolled them in language learning classes - and who need to be forced into practice - and held accountable to certain predefined outcomes. To that end, she assigns homework and drills to correct student problems. In my case I already have other homework and drills and I don't need that aspect of her services. I only needed a kind, patient conversation partner who is able to thoughtfully introduce words and grammar incrementally. Unfortunately, Faiza was not comfortable with the idea of not being the one to force me to improve my pronunciation and other issues - and wasn't willing to continue with stories and conversation without constant correction. I tried to explain that if we spend half our time on pronunciation drills that I'm not getting what I want out of the time, and that what I needed from her was a conversation partner - but she decided she could not proceed with helping me in that way. My advice to her would be to acknowledge the difference between child and adult learners, and be more flexible and less rigid with her approach. For example, one game we played that I really liked was; "draw a picture from a verbal description" - we would take turns being the drawer and the describer. I love this game! Unfortunately, I often felt as though it was more of a test of me than it was a test of her ability to teach vocabulary in context - which is anxiety-inducing and shuts down the learning process. But, if I were paying for classes for my child, perhaps this makes sense. Not for me though. Something to consider if you are an adult.

Great Tutor!
Immediately I could tell that Faiza is passionate about what she does. She took her time and did not overwhelming jump into the language. I learned something in my first session which was awesome and I plan on trying to book more sessions in the future.

Phenomenal Tutor
Faiza was a wonderful Arabic tutor. She had a variety of activities planned each session including games, conversation time, and new vocabulary. She even prepared practice homework and resources for continued learning outside of class. She even made the class content relatable to aspects of my personal life. I feel so much more confident in my Arabic speaking and listening skills since working with Faiza.

Nothing short of Amazing
Faiza is amazing with my 4yr old son. Like any other 4yr old he thinks everything is a game and very competitive. So she manage to create games and dances parallel with his learning style. Things that would make him want to compete, but also learn the language as well. She was so good, he was singing the Arabic alphabet throughout the house for days after she left. I’m very lucky that I found a tutor like her.
