Hello! My name is Annie!

I am currently a student at UC Berkeley's College of Engineering, majoring in Environmental Engineering, and I offer tutoring in K-12 math and science, ACT prep, college application advising, and piano. I was accepted into several other top universities, such as Cornell University, the University of Virginia (where I received admission as a Rodman Scholar w/ a $10,000 scholarship), and UCLA. Additionally, I have worked with students who have gotten into highly selective schools such as UChicago and Wellesley.

Throughout my academic career, this is what I've achieved: I scored a composite 35 on ACT: Reading (35), Math (35), Science (34), English (34), was named a National Merit Finalist (1500 on PSAT/NMSQT), co-authored two peer-reviewed research publications (with a third publication in progress), and earned multiple scores of 5 on challenging AP exams, such as Calculus AB & BC, Chemistry, and English Language.

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether a student needs help mastering difficult concepts, preparing for an exam, or navigating the college application process, I adapt my teaching style to help them reach their goals. From strengthening academic skills to refining essays and showcasing each student's unique strengths, I strive to help every student achieve success both in and beyond the classroom.

College Counseling

College Counseling

As a UC Berkeley College of Engineering student, I've been through the selective admissions process myself, earning acceptances from selective institutions such as Cornell, UCLA, and UVA (where I was named a Rodman Scholar with a $10,000 scholarship). Since then, I've worked directly with students on every stage of their applications, from brainstorming and drafting personal essays to strategically constructing activities and awards sections. My focus is on helping students identify what makes their story unique, rather than relying on generic formulas or overused narratives. This approach has helped the students I've worked with earn admission into top schools, including UChicago and Wellesley.
Environmental Science

Environmental Science

I'm an Environmental Engineering major at UC Berkeley (ranked the #1 program in the nation), and I specialize in high school and AP Environmental Science, having earned a 5 on the AP exam myself. Beyond the classroom, I'm active in environmental research, including co-authoring a peer-reviewed publication on weather patterns and PM 2.5 air pollution, leading a study on PFAS contamination in freshwater streams with professors at William & Mary and George Mason University, and currently conducting research at George Mason's Sustainable Geotransportation/Geoenvironmental Initiatives Lab. I pay close attention to how each student thinks, not just what they're struggling with, so lessons end up looking different for every student I work with, whether that means breaking down a tricky concept, building AP exam strategy, or just feeding genuine curiosity about the environment.
Piano

Piano

I'm a classical piano tutor and UC Berkeley student who has played piano for over 14 years, performing both as a soloist and as the alternate pianist for Virginia's Senior Regional Orchestra. My experience has influenced my teaching philosophy, where I value musical expression and confidence just as much as I do technique, whether a student is learning their first scales or preparing for a competitive audition. Lessons are built around each student's specific goals, not a fixed curriculum, so the path looks different depending on whether someone wants to nail a recital piece, dive deeper into music theory, or just enjoy playing. My focus is to build a strong technical foundation while fostering confidence, creativity, and a lifelong enjoyment of playing the piano.
