Hi there, I’m JaVe! I have over 14 years of tutoring in high school chemistry, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. Those years also include undergraduate General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. I typically have one-on-one sessions because I am able to give each student undivided attention.

My educational background includes an MS Narrative Medicine from Columbia University and a BS Chemistry from the University of the District of Columbia. During my time in my graduate program, I was a Graduate Fellow for Precision Medicine: Ethics, Policy, & Culture. During my time completing my undergraduate degree, I completed research on electrochemical analysis of Emetine using cyclic voltammetry and was recognized by being placed on the Dean’s List.

I am a member of the American Chemical Society, Columbia Alumni Association, American College of Genetics and Genomics, and the American Society of Human Genetics. I am a former member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, Student National Medical Association, and Columbia University Black Student Guild.

My goal is to provide students with a safe space to work through things they may not understand. As someone with ADHD, I also want to give students support if they have neurodivergent issues that affect their ability to learn.

My availability is as follows:

Monday, 6pm-8:30pm
Tuesday, 6pm-8:30pm
Wednesday, 6pm-10pm
Thursday, 6pm-8:30pm
