I'm a TJHSST alumnus currently studying at the University of Chicago. Over the past two years, I've tutored students ranging from 3rd through 12th grade as well as college students, in both one-on-one and classroom settings. My experience includes one-on-one math tutoring across all levels and lecturing machine learning for high school students.
I specialize in math, physics, computer science, and essay writing for college and TJ applications. In math, I teach everything from pre-algebra through AP Calculus BC, which I scored a 5 on during my freshman year of high school. I also help students prepare for AP Physics, having earned 5s on both Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism in my sophomore year. As for SAT prep, I score in the 99th percentile for both math and reading.
My approach to teaching comes from the idea that the best learning happens when you productively struggle with the material. Whether a subject is heavy on memorization or application, my students get the best results when they're practicing answering questions, building their own projects, and explaining concepts back in their own words. Rather than handing you answers, I guide you to feel like you could have discovered the knowledge yourself, working from the ground up so you understand the motivations behind what you're learning. The goal is for you to walk away with both an intuitive feel for the subject and a deep theoretical understanding of it.
As your tutor, I'm committed to helping you achieve your academic goals, whatever they may be.
