I have worked with gifted elementary middle school students, both in basics and advanced, competitive math settings (MATHCOUNTS, American Math Competition). I like to go back to first principles and develop them into ideas and concepts which can be applied to real-life problem solving situations.
I spent my life applying rigorous thinking to solve engineering and business problems. I have a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering from. Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA from Dartmouth College. I have worked as Technical Director and a Chief Engineer for a federally funded R&D center in the Washington, DC, area.
More relevant to the tutoring role, I was a member of the Fairfax County Public Schools GT Advisory Committee and have provided mentoring and advice to help high performing students make the most of their educational experiences. I also received Raytheon’s Math Hero Award, which is typically given to only math teachers – I was greatly honored to receive it after my students nominated me.
I hope I can help you, as well.
