My last two years of high school I had the same math teacher. I had always loved math but she made me want to become a teacher. I am now happy to be a Virginia certified teacher. I began my education at the University of Maine Farmington enrolled in a Secondary Math Education program. This is where I studied mathematics, including Calculus I - III, Data Analysis, Probability and Computer Programming. I finished my degree at Ashford University in Business Economics with a 4.0.

I have been teaching for 8 years, seven of them as a certified full-time teacher. I have taught Algebra I, Algebra III with Trigonometry, Geometry, AP Statistics and AFDA (Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis). I teach my students to understand concepts before teaching any shortcuts. I relate what they are learning to things in their every day life to make them relevant.
I have been teaching at the high school level, 9th-12th grade. At the first school I taught at, about 50% of my students were immigrants and/or refugees from Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, and others. This was an amazing experience that I am so grateful for, as I learned so much about the cultures and about teaching. I also have experience working with children with Autism, both professionally and as a mother. This has taught me how to differentiate to reach all learners! I look forward to working with you and your student!!
