Hi, my name is Arshawn. The most important thing I've learned in my math journey during high school is that everyone has a unique learning style, and improving is a lot easier when you can find your own! Hi, my name is Arshawn. The most important thing I've learned in my math journey during high school is that everyone has a unique learning style, and improving is a lot easier when you can find your own! As a tutor, I want to help my students find what suits them best and adapt my lessons into an experience where they learn something new every time.
I've taken every high school math course available at my school including AP Calculus AB and BC, AP Statistics, Precalculus, and everything that comes before that. I've experienced firsthand what it's like to struggle with different math concepts and not understand how I can take advantage of test-taking strategies. It wasn't until I noticed what strategies worked for me when I improved my SAT math score by over 150 points to land a 790.
Outside of the classroom, I've coached and mentored kids in multiple fields such as robotics, soccer, and academics. During these experiences, I've developed my communication skills, learned to put myself in other people's shoes, and adapt to their needs rather than having them adapt to the idea I originally had in mind as a mentor.
Students who work with me can expect to learn how to break down difficult problems into simple concepts, manage their pace in timed tests if necessary, and most importantly to enjoy the process of learning! Please don't be afraid to ask questions and communicate your needs honestly with me, I won't mind at all. In fact, I encourage it because it'll make the process a lot easier for the both of us.
