Hello! My name is Kendall and I am a current graduate student finishing up my first year of veterinary school at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech). I have a background in the natural sciences, graduating from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Zoology and attending a specialized Environmental Sciences Academy in high school. I was chosen to join Phi Beta Kappa my senior year of college and am a member. I graduated college with a GPA of 3.82 having completing courses such as: Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Ecology, Statistics, Physics, Genetics, Biology, and many others. I know seeking help when you are struggling with a class can be scary, but I hope to easy those worries for learners by being compassionate and encouraging during sessions.
I am comfortable teaching all subjects from elementary to basic high school curriculum. Past basic high school curriculum, I am willing to teach college level biology courses and general chemistry. I have never formally worked in a classroom setting but frequently helped out in the elementary classrooms of family and friends who are educators. I was an informal tutor for the children (ages 8-14), and I nannied during undergrad and in addition to helping with homework during the school year. I also created lesson plans over the summer to strengthen concepts they struggled with. I worked one on one with children that have learning disabilities including dyslexia, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD. I myself have ADHD and understand how frustrating it can be to learn successful study habits. I enjoy teaching students both individually and in small group settings. I pride myself on my ability to adapt my teaching strategies to each of the students I have worked with and aim to create learners who not only feel comfortable with the material we are exploring but confident in applying themselves to other academic challenges they may face.
