Knowledgable inspiring and engaging tutor!
My son has had a few lessons with Natalya. He is 15, enrolled in a college Russian class and needed some extra help. He has also has a passion for history and politics and relations. Great Teacher for All Skill Levels!
I have been taking lessons with Natalya for over 6 months now and it has been very beneficial for my speaking, listening, and vocabulary, as well as my understanding of Russian culture. In addition to being a native speaker, she has the teaching experience to adjust the lessons to help you achieve your Russian language goals as well as focus on the areas that you most want to improve. She is very patient, constructive, and wants you to enjoy learning as well! Lessons with her are the most fun I have had while learning Russian. I studied Russian in college for 4 years and wanted to continue my studies, so I had a solid foundation when I began my lessons with Natalya, but some of my fundamentals were rusty because of the gap between graduation and beginning lessons again. Natalya was able to review those fundamentals with me and then help me surpass the skill level that I had when I graduated from college. This makes me confident that she would be a good teacher both for those who have no experience with the Russian language as well as those that have several years of experience. Our lessons range from discussing current events in Russian, to translating Russian videos and songs and she is very knowledgeable in regards to the culture and the language. We generally learn grammar in the context of whatever we are studying. One of my biggest qualms with language learning resources is often times you will be taught only how a phrase or word translates into English without understanding the literal meaning of the word or phrase, which is very important to me. Because Natalya is a native Russian speaker she is great at helping me understand both the literal and regular translations. She is also familiar with idioms, figures of speech, and slang, which are great you want to be able to speak with and understand Russian speakers! I can definitely say that my speaking, listening, and vocabulary have increased significantly from when I started my lessons with her!
