I find that teaching biology principles and helping students understand the world around them to be incredibly satisfying. I tutored as an undergraduate and then taught both undergraduates and graduate students while working in biology laboratories. What I enjoy is finding ways to teach biology and making it apply to your world, whether high school or college age. Seeing a student begin to understand biology and enjoy learning is my goal. I went to college at a later age having raised children. Tutoring for me is a way to repay those who helped me learn and understand.
As a PhD in Immunological biomedical research, my course work in both undergraduate and graduate school gave me a solid foundation in understanding how the human body functions as cells, organs, and as an entity. As a biology major I took courses not only in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, and microbiology but enjoyed ecology and plant biology.
For those who try and struggle to understand your course work, sometimes having simpler explanations and finding a way to make biology applicable to the world makes all the difference. My job is to help you understand the work, finding ways to make it more than memorization, improving grades and test scores.
