Hi, I'm Debbie B. I'm a professional editor with two specialties: academic and business writing, and manuscripts (fiction and nonfiction). My past experience includes being an award-winning editor of a business journal, the editor of a lifestyle magazine, and before that, a news writer and columnist.

I'm knowledgeable in AP, APA, MLA and the Chicago Manual of Style. Citations, footnotes, charts, figures, and graphs are no problem for me!

I have discovered that to be a truly impactful tutor, listening is the most important thing I can do: to observe how the student (school-aged or adult) uses language and to discern his or her style so that it can be communicated naturally and easily in writing.

In addition to tutoring writing, communications, desktop publishing, etc. I am also an author coach, where I teach various aspects of publishing such as book formatting, uploading to self-publishing platforms like Amazon KDP, querying publishers and literary agents, writing a synopsis and bio, and building an author platform.

You will find me to be reliable, friendly, and helpful. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule your first session. I look forward to hearing from you!

Debbie B.

Debbie is wonderful!

Debbie was fantastic to work with. She was very polite, and nice to talk to. Debbie helped me with everything I needed, as well as found a small error I have been making consistently for over 10 years with APA format, that none of my professors caught. I highly recommend Debbie to anyone considering tutoring.

Resume and Cover Letter Review

I took a tutoring session with Debbie and we reviewed both my resume and cover letter. Debbie gave excellent feedback on ways to make these documents stand out. This included rearranging sentences and changing a few words to allow more of my personality to show. She also caught my small grammar mistakes that were easy to miss. After that one tutoring session I was able to finalize my resume and cover letter and send them out the same day.

In one one-hour session Debbie helped me turn a rough disorganized outline into a full 1500 word essay! In just two sessions Debbie helped me complete and feel confident with my first medical ethics essay! I was completely lost before my first session and now I feel great about my essay and the process of writing an ethical philosophy essay. I will definitely be working with her again
