I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Producing for the Screen from Loyola Marymount University, where I developed both the craft and the critical thinking to teach creative storytelling at a high level. My undergraduate degree in Strategic Communications and Journalism from Ohio State University gave me a strong foundation in writing, rhetoric, and audience awareness, skills that directly inform how I help students find clarity and purpose in their own work. Beyond formal education, I have spent years working as a professional television writer, with credits on produced series for Amazon and Peacock. That real-world experience means I do not just teach the rules. I teach how the industry actually works and what it takes to build a sustainable creative practice.
My teaching background spans classroom and one-on-one settings with students ranging from middle schoolers to adults. I spent several years as a teacher in New York City and Atlanta, where I developed curriculum, coached struggling writers, and learned how to meet students where they are, whether that is a 12-year-old writing their first short story or a high schooler working through a college application essay. I am also a Sundance Episodic Lab alumnus and Film Independent Fellow, distinctions that reflect not just craft, but the ability to develop original work from concept to completion.
For screenwriting students, I bring professional expertise that few tutors can match, covering structure, voice, scene construction, and dialogue. For English and general creative writing students, my approach is always to develop the writer, not just fix the assignment, building confidence, critical thinking, and a genuine voice along the way.
