I began my career at the alternative school in Suffolk, Virginia, where I taught for 10 years, working closely with students who required creative strategies and individualized support to succeed. Since 2016, I have served as a science educator, teaching Biology, Ecology, and Anatomy & Physiology. r seven years, leading with a focus on collaboration, instructional excellence, and student growth. I was honored to be named Rookie Teacher of the Year early in my career and nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2021, both acknowledgments of my commitment to student success.
My teaching philosophy is simple yet powerful: All students can learn if given the proper resources and support. I have spent my entire career in urban school districts, creating classroom environments where students feel seen, respected, and empowered to reach their potential. Whether in a traditional classroom setting, through one-on-one tutoring, or in volunteer outreach programs, I strive to build strong relationships, use data-driven instruction, and incorporate hands-on, real-world applications that make science both meaningful and accessible. I use a variety of teaching methods, including inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, visual aids, and technology integration to meet students where they are. My passion for education, deep content knowledge, and ability to connect with diverse learners make me a strong and enthusiastic fit for this tutoring position.
