Dear Future Students and Families,
Welcome! I’m Shannon, a certified educator with over ten years of experience helping students not just *survive* math, but actually *enjoy* it! I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching, a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and certification to teach PreK–6th grade. However, what really defines me is how I connect with learners and turn "I can't" into "I’ve got this."
I began my career as a fifth-grade classroom teacher, specializing in working with students who had IEPs or were learning English as a second language. From there, I became the head of math instruction for my school district, guiding curriculum decisions and mentoring teachers across the region. I also served as team leader within my school, supporting fifth-grade educators in delivering high-impact lessons in math, reading, writing, and science. Since 2019, I’ve been a full-time online educator, working with students around the world in both group and one-on-one settings, focusing primarily on upper-elementary and middle school math. I’ve also taught ESL to students across the world, created custom curriculum, and designed targeted support classes for students struggling with key math concepts like fractions, decimals, division, and place value.
But beyond the credentials, I bring something else: joy! My classroom—virtual or otherwise—is an upbeat, safe, and encouraging space where students feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and discover that they’re more capable than they think. My approach is relationship-driven, student-centered, and full of curiosity. I want to help your student build confidence and grow beyond what they thought was possible.
So whether your child is feeling overwhelmed in math class, needs a challenge beyond the standard curriculum, or just needs someone who believes in them—I’m here for that. Let’s make learning something they look forward to!
