I am a first year medical student with a 516 MCAT (92nd percentile), including a 132 (100th percentile) in Biological and Biochemical Foundations and a 130 (96th percentile) in Chemical and Physical Foundations. I completed my undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at an Ivy League institution, where I also earned a certificate in Global Health and Health Policy. My academic background spans the full range of subjects tested on the MCAT, and my current medical school coursework keeps that knowledge active and clinically grounded every day.

My tutoring experience spans several years and multiple contexts. As a Peer Academic Adviser in college, I worked one on one and in small groups with pre-medical students, helping them navigate course selection, study strategies, and the demands of a rigorous science curriculum. I have also tutored peers informally in subjects ranging from biology and chemistry to standardized test preparation. I am natively fluent in both English and Spanish and am able to tutor students comfortably in either language, which has been an asset in working with a diverse range of students.

My tutoring philosophy is rooted in the belief that real improvement comes from understanding how to think through a problem, not just memorizing the answer. I tailor my approach to each student, beginning by identifying where their reasoning breaks down and building from there. I find that students make the most progress when they feel genuinely supported rather than judged, and I take pride in building that kind of trust quickly. Whether you are just starting your MCAT prep or pushing for a higher score in a specific section, I am committed to helping you reach your goals.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

I am a first year medical student at an accredited MD program, where gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, and histology are core components of my curriculum. My training includes cadaveric dissection, radiological interpretation, and clinical application of anatomical structures across organ systems. My undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from an Ivy League institution provided a strong foundation in biological systems that directly supports my anatomical knowledge. I am comfortable teaching anatomy at any level, from high school and undergraduate coursework to pre-medical and allied health students preparing for standardized exams.
Biology

Biology

As a potential biology major, I thoroughly enjoy all areas of biological science.
MCAT

MCAT

I scored a 516 (92nd percentile) on the MCAT, including a 132 (100th percentile) in Biological and Biochemical Foundations and a 130 (96th percentile) in Chemical and Physical Foundations. I am currently a first year medical student, where my daily coursework keeps my content knowledge sharp and gives me direct insight into how MCAT concepts connect to clinical medicine. As a former Peer Academic Adviser at Princeton University, I coached pre-medical students through the challenges of preparing for medical school. I am natively fluent in both English and Spanish and am able to tutor students in either language.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I scored a 760 on the SAT Math section and a 750 on the SAT reading section, for a composite score of 1510.
Spanish

Spanish

I am a native Spanish speaker with full fluency in reading, writing, and speaking, having used the language professionally throughout my academic and clinical career. As a volunteer clinical interpreter, I facilitated real time physician patient interactions in community health settings serving Spanish speaking patients, requiring precise and nuanced command of both medical and conversational Spanish. I am currently a first year medical student and am well equipped to help students at any level, from conversational foundations to advanced grammar, writing, and professional or medical Spanish.

Patient, compassionate, and knowledgeable

After 1 session, I felt heard and understood about my goals and my vision for MCAT. James was not only knowledgeable about MCAT expectations, he also has layed out goals for us to accomplish for our sessions. I look forward to our future sessions together and learning more on how to improve my scores in time for my test date.

James is amazing

James was super kind from the moment our tutoring session started. He asked me a lot of questions to get a better idea of how to best help me. He listened and considered everything when helping me make a game plan for my upcoming MCAT. I would highly recommend James as a tutor!
