Hi, I’m Kate! I earned my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Leadership and Public Policy from the University of Virginia in May 2025. My coursework included abnormal and child psychopathology, and my current research assistant role at UVA has strengthened my skills in academic writing, reviewing research, and explaining complex ideas.
My teaching-related experience comes primarily from individualized work with children. As a Registered Behavior Technician at VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment, I provide one-on-one support to young children with autism, including preschool-aged children. I help children practice foundational skills by breaking tasks into smaller steps, providing prompts as needed, and using positive reinforcement. This work has taught me to adapt my approach to each child’s needs and pace. I also have several years of babysitting experience, which has helped me build rapport with children and communicate patiently.
I offer elementary students support with reading, writing, homework, and study habits. For middle and high school students, I can help with English, reading comprehension, essay planning and revision, organization, and introductory psychology. I also support college students in introductory psychology and academic writing.
My approach is encouraging and structured: I explain concepts clearly, work through examples with students, and give them opportunities to practice independently. My goal is to help students understand their work and build confidence in their ability to learn.
