Hi there! My name is Imaan, I'm a 3rd-year medical student, and I'm so glad to see you here. Hi there! My name is Imaan, I'm a 3rd-year medical student, and I'm so glad to see you here. Since undergrad, I've been passionate about understanding the sciences and breaking them down to be approachable for anyone to master. I worked as a tutor (small group/1-on-1) and supplemental instructor (class of 15-40) for organic chemistry, biochemistry, and genetics. The feeling of working through hard concepts and making them click was what made me fall in love with tutoring. My teaching style is heavy on this—I like to simplify everything as much as I can to be able to understand and apply concepts to an exam or a real-world problem. I also love practice problems and thoroughly enjoyed creating worksheets for organic chemistry and biochem. I truly believe practice makes perfect.
After undergrad, I got my MS in Biochemistry and prepared for the MCAT. After that, I continued to tutor for the MCAT and some undergraduate organic chemistry and biochem tutoring. I also worked as an elementary school substitute teacher. Now in med school, I created an organization within my school where residents volunteer to teach med students about practical clinical skills, communication, anatomy, and pathophysiology of disease.
During med school, I have also been working privately with a student for a year to prepare them for the IELTS exam. I have always done well in English on standardized tests, and learning how IELTS works has been interesting and rewarding.
