I took the SAT last year, scoring 1560 with a perfect math section. I took dynamics, modern algebra, and real analysis in high school. I'm starting mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon in August.
That's not a flex. It’s why I'm useful to you. I remember what it felt like to not understand related rates the night before a test. I know exactly which SAT math traps show up because I fell for them once too.
I began my mentoring journey in robotics. A middle school in my county had a LEGO robotics team with no coach, so I showed up. I learned fast that explaining something once doesn't mean anyone learned it. You figure out how to read a room, find the person who's lost, and rebuild the explanation from scratch. Over four years, I've taught robotics to 270+ students in summer camps, team practices, and one-on-one sessions. I've also designed a curriculum that now serves 150+ students across 12 teams globally.
Robotics doesn't start with a full instruction book. It begins with mechanism ideas and physics concepts, and you figure out the rest. My teaching philosophy works the same way. I won’t drill you on a problem until you memorize it. Instead, I’ll give you the foundation to solve that problem and ten others you haven't seen yet. For the SAT specifically, the way they ask the questions is much more difficult than the material itself. I know how to overcome the test's tricks because I just sat through them.
My goal isn't to get you through this week's problem set. It's to make sure you don't need me for the next one. From one student to another, I'll get you there.
