Hello! I'm Danny, a fourth-year pre-medical student at the University of Virginia majoring in Biochemistry. My academic background includes a wide range of advanced coursework, including cell biology, organic chemistry, physics, and calculus at the undergraduate level.
That said, mastering these subjects didn’t come easily at first. I vividly remember struggling to memorize organic reactions and grappling with the problem-solving demands of physics. But through persistence, asking for help when I needed it, and developing effective study strategies, I gradually built a strong foundation, and even found enjoyment in tackling these challenging topics. Those early struggles taught me how to break down complex material into manageable, understandable pieces, which is an approach I now bring to my tutoring.
I have five years of tutoring experience, working with students from middle school through college. I started in high school, tutoring Algebra 1, Pre-Calculus, and Chemistry one-on-one with four students. During those sessions, we focused on solving practice problems, reviewing key concepts, and working through custom challenges I created to test their understanding. I’ve continued this approach as a peer tutor in college, especially in concept-heavy subjects like organic chemistry, general chemistry, and biology, always adapting my teaching style to fit each student’s needs.
My tutoring style is empathetic and student-centered. I aim to understand how each student learns best and use clear explanations, real-world examples, and guided practice to make difficult concepts more approachable. I truly believe that with the right support and mindset, any student can succeed.
Most importantly, I’m committed to helping my students grow and feel confident in their abilities. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session—I’d love to help you reach your goals!
