Hello! I am Mason. I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's in mathematics. For the last 4 years, I have been pursuing a PhD in mathematics and working as both a researcher and a calculus instructor at UVA. Having taught both Calculus I & II, I am very familiar with UVA calculus curriculum. Conversely, my broad mathematical background means I am comfortable tutoring for a range of math topics including linear algebra, introductory statistics, and proof-based mathematics.

Hello!
I have had a passion for tutoring ever since I worked for 2 years as a tutor at Mathnasium. I worked with students of all ages, from kindergartners learning numbers to high school students preparing for the SAT. Now, I mostly work with college students, but I think the principles of learning math apply at all levels.
Students often feel they don't know the path forward when they meet difficulties in their math courses. They often don't know what is the question they would like to ask. I like to help students recognize what they already know and take it one step at a time to where they need to be. Math is a subject that builds on itself. I want to help students build their skills and understanding alongside it. I enjoy one-on-one interactions with students because it enables me to understand the student's needs on a deeper level. Importantly, I employ the Socratic method, guiding the student towards the right path by asking the right question.
I always want to make sure that my help is personalized to your needs. So please feel free to send any questions and reach out if you are interested in tutoring.
