Hi! I’m Haki, and I’m currently a fourth-year medical student at the University of Virginia. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Biology and Medical Ethics from Virginia Commonwealth University. I also took the MCAT in 2022 and received a 95th percentile score (breakdown: 128/130/129/131). I have over 8 years of tutoring and teaching experience, both as a personal tutor and as a teaching assistant for college-level STEM courses. I’ve tutored students of all ages in chemistry, biology, and math.
During my undergraduate years, I worked as a tutor in our campus learning center and supported students in both one-on-one and group settings in many subjects including biology, general chemistry, genetics, organic chemistry, sociology, and writing. I was also a teaching assistant for Genetics and Organic Chemistry 2 where I created review sessions that condensed class material into targeted practice questions, allowing students to apply concepts in real time. I carried this same approach when I studied for my MCAT. I focused heavily on practice-based learning to identify and address my knowledge gaps which helped me improve from my diagnostic test score of 508 to a 95th percentile score.
I understand how overwhelming STEM courses and MCAT preparation can feel and I’m here to help find strategies that work for you! We will tailor each tutoring session to create learning plans that work for you, whether it be talking through concepts, reviewing practice tests, or creating new practice questions. My goal is to help you gain confidence with the course and test material in a collaborative and comfortable environment and to help you reach your academic goals. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and I look forward to working with you!
