Hi, I’m Aaron! I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in May of 2023 with a degree in biochemistry and a minor in literature. Currently, I’m a second-year medical student at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. I’m also a licensed EMT and am fluent in Spanish!
I’ve previously tutored one-on-one with high school students in calculus, focusing on problem-based learning as well as individualized, flexible learning strategies. I also helped students work through introductory collegiate biology and chemistry coursework on a volunteer basis, where I used inquiry-based learning to connect concepts to real-world applications and make them more digestible.
While working as an EMT, I worked in a training officer position where I mentored dozens of students to take their licensing exams in both group and individual settings. Beyond that, I designed educational programs to teach these students soft skills like critical thinking and confidence while preparing them to run calls.
While STEM subjects were the focus of my degree, I also have a passion for language and literature. I tutored high school students in Spanish, both learning from a beginner stage and improving fluency for students already familiar with the language. I also have experience reviewing papers on English language and literature for high school and college students. Specifically, this consisted of helping to construct rhetorical arguments, analyze text, and improve prose. I developed templates for different types of essays that these students have used for other classes.
I like to take a collaborative, student-centered approach to learning. That entails setting clear, attainable, and flexible goals at the start of tutoring and regularly checking in on which strategies are enjoyable and effective for the student. I look forward to working with you to master your material!
