I have taught writing and public speaking in a variety of mediums from poetry, short stories, screenplays, the performance arts, and academic writing. I also work as a professional screenwriter.
During my time at the University of Virginia, I would often volunteer to help my fellow students sharpen their writing skills for term papers, with an emphasis on clarity and substantiating arguments via thorough research and evidence. In addition to academic work, I taught improvisational theater at Empire Comedy in Reno Nevada for five years, working with students from high school age to retirees. I also taught a Performance Poetry class and an Introduction to Stand Up Comedy Class. I have also run an online writing workshop for the last four years helping aspiring writers to develop their projects for production.
I am also an award-winning screenwriter and comedian, earning 1st place at the Reno/Tahoe International Film Festival for Best Short for my original script "9 Pound Trout” and 1st Place at the Walk The Plank Stand Up Competition in San Francisco against a field of over one hundred comedians. My latest screenplay, "You Are Not Alone" was optioned by Dark Dreams Entertainment and is currently being packaged for production, with Martha Stephens attached to direct. I have also been hired by Trap Door Cinema to write films and do polishes and rewrites for various projects, most recently working with Lino DiSalvo, the former Head of Animation for Disney on a children’s animated action/adventure.
