Hello, my name is Jimmy and I've been studying and working in computing for around 7 years now. My education consists of an undergraduate degree in computer engineering and a graduate degree in data science, both with highest honors and both from the University of Virginia. I received awards for educational excellence in both my undergraduate and graduate studies, am a published author in IEEE and am a certified Azure Data Engineer Associate.
Beyond my schooling I've been working in a startup environment for around 3 years now in a role where I have a wide range of duties and responsibilities, mostly focusing around designing and implementing backend systems to build out our data infrastructure. This work spans a variety of programming languages and extends beyond software engineering to devops and MLOps at times, however much of my work comes back to SQL. I took classes on database design in college and have been learning from the founders of our company, who have now started and sold several of their endeavours, how to best use SQL in a variety of situations.
In terms of my teaching experience it is rather sparse. I was a TA for a few classes in college and I've served as a supervisor at a few camps but neither of these experiences were particularly substantial. I will say I work best in a one on one environment and I look forward to developing my skills as a tutor as time goes on.
