Throughout my academic journey, I've developed numerous skills in analytical-thinking, problem solving, and mathematics, which are skills I now enjoy instilling in younger students.
I currently work as a Math and English tutor at Aloha Mind Math, where I support elementary and middle school students in strengthening their math skills and building confidence in their academic abilities. This experience has taught me how to break down complex concepts into manageable steps and adapt my teaching style to different learning needs.
Along with tutoring, I have extensive leadership and teaching experience through dance. As a choreographer, instructor, and competitive team leader, I regularly mentor students, guide rehearsals, and help individuals develop both technical and organizational skills with confidence.
My passion for tutoring is deeply personal. Growing up, school was not always easy for me, Math in particular was my most challenging subject because I struggled with test anxiety and often felt overwhelmed with new material. However, with the guidance of supportive tutors and the influence of my parents, I learned strategies that helped me understand concepts more deeply rather than just simply memorizing them.
Those experiences shaped the way I teach today. I focus on helping students truly understand the "why" behind concepts by reinforcing foundational skills and connecting new ideas to things they already know. My goal is not only to improve grades, but also to help students build confidence in their abilities and feel capable when they approach challenging material.
Seeing a student go from feeling discouraged to understanding a concept is what makes tutoring so rewarding for me and my goal will always be to help students reach the finish line with confidence and determination.
