Dedicated educator and epidemiologist with a passion for making science and language learning accessible, engaging, and empowering for every student. I hold a Master of Public Health from The George Washington University, a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Chowan University. My academic background in biology, environmental science, and global health provides me with a strong foundation to make complex scientific concepts approachable and engaging for learners of all ages.
I’ve taught and tutored students ranging from middle school to adult learners in both classroom and one-on-one settings. For over ten years, I served as a science teacher and GED instructor in Virginia, teaching subjects such as Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, and Biology. I’ve also taught English as a Second Language (ESOL) to both adults and recently immigrated students, helping them develop communication skills for daily life, academics, and professional advancement. My teaching approach is student-centered and adaptable — I focus on breaking down challenging material into clear, relatable lessons while building confidence and curiosity.
Whether guiding middle schoolers through hands-on science experiments, supporting college students tackling biology or environmental coursework, or helping English learners master grammar, pronunciation, and writing, I aim to create lessons that are interactive, inclusive, and empowering. My experience working across cultures — from classrooms in Virginia to community health education in South Africa and Malawi — has taught me that effective teaching is about connection, patience, and meeting each learner where they are. I bring that same global perspective and enthusiasm to every session, ensuring that each student not only understands the material but develops a lasting love of learning.
