Hi, my name is Lavanya and I love working with other people and mathematics. I am extremely passionate about math — it has always been my favorite subject and am extremely thorough in all maths up until Calculus II / AP Calculus BC. I’m a passionate and creative tutor who helps students build not just knowledge, but confidence. I specialize in math, and I love showing students that it doesn’t have to be scary or boring—it’s like solving a puzzle. I’ve worked with middle and high school students across algebra, geometry, pre-calc, and calculus. Whether we’re tackling fractions or derivatives, I focus on helping students understand why things work, not just how to memorize steps.

I use color-coded breakdowns, visual metaphors, and real-world analogies to make concepts stick. I’ve explained slopes using rollercoasters, taught systems of equations as teamwork problems, and helped students conquer word problems by mapping them out visually. I also teach growth mindset strategies so students see mistakes as part of the process—not failures. I want to ensure that students are in an environment where they can make mistakes and ask the same questions a million times until it clicks.

In addition to math, I tutor computer science and writing. I’ve taken advanced CS courses in Python, AI, and web development, and I love helping students apply logic to code through interactive projects and debugging challenges. In writing, I help students strengthen structure, clarity, and voice—especially in academic essays and personal statements.

Across all subjects, I tailor my sessions to each learner’s pace, personality, and style. I believe in creating a warm, non-judgmental environment where students feel heard and supported. My goal is for students to leave every session feeling smarter, braver, and more in control of their learning.
