Ability to Break Subject Matter Down so It is Understandable

I feel a teacher's or tutor's main goal is to remediate the areas needed by the student. The secondary part that I focus on is helping the student learn to love learning. This I do by learning about my students and structuring the lessons to include their interests when possible.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have a Master's of Arts in Business Education and a Rank I in Special Education. All of my degrees are from the University of Louisville. I taught business and special education in Loisville, KY for seven years and substituted for five years. I taught middle and high school. I also taught the GED to high school and adult students. I was an adjunct instructor for two business colleges. I have tutored an eighth grade student in reading and math. A ninth grade student in all subjects including study skills. One adult ESL student in business communication. I love tutoring everything, but my favorites are reading, writing, and accounting. I enjoy volunteer work at my spiritual center and in animal rescue. My hobbies are reading, hanging out with my five cats, watching science fiction, swimming and traveling.

I am well versed in different teaching strategies for writing. I know different strategies for increasing reading comprehension. I have taught English from seventh to twelfth grade. I did not have to take public speaking, because I took the proficiency exam, which consisted of giving a speech in front of three professors.

I believe all students can learn. I also like to base my tutoring on the idea that I can help everyone learn to love learning. I will do everything in my power to help you succeed in whatever you need help in.
