Former homeschool mom with experience in public schools

Hello! My name is Hannah. I just wanted to share a little bit about myself. I am a mom of 3. I homeschooled my kids for 8 years before enrolling them in the public school system. I loved my years of homeschooling! It allowed me to teach my kids in non-traditional ways and to think outside of the box about education. After I enrolled them in school, I began working in our local middle school as an instructional assistant. I have a lot of experience working in small groups and one-on-one with students. I spent my years in the public schools working in English classes, so I feel very confident in my ability to tutor in English, reading, and writing.

In my free time I love to read, cook, kayak and travel to new places. I love to expose my kids to new experiences and new people. We can learn so much from the world around us!

I spent 2 years working solely in middle school English classes. I worked with small groups to improve their reading, writing and vocabulary skills. I also worked one-on-one with students on reading and writing. I am familiar with the curriculum in public schools and with the technology that is used. I am also familiar with the SOL testing requirements and the emphasis that is placed on this.

I homeschooled my own children for 8 years. When they began their time in the public school system, they had a very solid foundation. They are very high-level readers and they perform very well on their SOL tests.
