My name is Fred, and I've spent over 25 years immersed in the real-world workings of Washington, D.C. I began my career as a congressional staffer, later ran major political campaigns, and served as the legislative and political director for an international labor union. For the last 13 years, I've led my own government affairs firm, representing clients before Congress and federal agencies. I hold a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan and an M.L.S. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, and I'm currently pursuing a Public Leadership Credential at Harvard Kennedy School.
I specialize in three areas:
Interview Preparation – I help students and professionals prepare for job interviews, graduate school admissions interviews, and scholarship panels. We'll work on how to present your experience compellingly, answer tough questions with confidence, and make a strong impression. I've sat on both sides of the table—as someone who's been hired and as someone who's done the hiring—and I know what makes a candidate stand out.
Political Science & Government – I tutor high school and college students in American government, civics, and political science. My sessions go beyond textbooks—I've written legislation that's become law, drafted federal earmark requests that secured millions in funding, and authored speeches and memos for members of Congress. I don't just teach how a bill becomes a law—I've helped write them.
Persuasive Writing – Writing is one of my greatest strengths. Whether it's an op-ed, a policy memo, a graduate school application, or a class essay, I help students write with clarity, strategy, and impact.
My goal is always to help you connect what you're studying to how power and politics really operate—and to help you succeed in landing the opportunity you're working toward.

I started my career working for a member of Congress, where I wrote constituent letters, floor statements, and policy briefs. I later wrote for a major labor union, drafting correspondence from the union president, and now, as a federal lobbyist, I write everything from legislation and technical memos to speeches, op-eds, and letters in the voice of senators and members of Congress on behalf of my clients. Over the course of my career, I’ve helped write federal legislation, secured millions of dollars in congressional appropriations, drafted policy language included in national laws like the Affordable Care Act, and worked directly with members of Congress, federal agencies, and advocacy coalitions. My areas of expertise include constitutional principles, the legislative process, elections, political strategy, separation of powers, federalism, and policymaking in real-world contexts. I hold a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Master of Legal Studies in Indigenous Peoples Law from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
