Hello and welcome!
My name is Meredith, and I’m so glad you’re here. I have a deep passion for both science and language, and I love helping students build confidence in subjects that can often feel overwhelming. I hold degrees in Molecular Genetics and American Sign Language from the University of Rochester.
My approach to tutoring is grounded in patience, clarity, and connection. I’ve been practicing how to break down complex topics since I was young, helping my three younger siblings understand everything from homework to big life concepts. I bring that same mindset to tutoring—I listen carefully, explain clearly, and work with you to find the strategies that fit your learning style.
For ASL students, I offer a rich perspective shaped by more than a dozen advanced ASL courses taught by Deaf professors, as well as real-world experience gained while living in Rochester and engaging with the local Deaf community. While at the University of Rochester, I also spent three years conducting research on Alzheimer’s Disease. My work focused on mitochondrial function and mitophagy (the way cells recycle damaged mitochondria) which gave me hands-on experience in molecular and cellular biology. I’ve also completed graduate-level coursework in molecular biology, genetics, and the biology of aging, and I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Biology at the University of Virginia.
Whether you're studying for a biology exam, learning ASL from the ground up, or looking to deepen your understanding of Deaf culture, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Let’s make learning both effective and enjoyable together!
