I am an experienced educator with more than 13 years in public education, including nine years of classroom teaching in grades K-6. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from James Madison University and a Master of Arts from Shenandoah University, along with a Virginia teaching license in Elementary Education. I have also earned an Educational Administration certification and a Gifted Education endorsement. My experience qualifies me to support elementary students in mathematics, reading and literacy, writing, science, social studies, and gifted or enrichment instruction.
Throughout my career, I have taught students in traditional classrooms, multi-age settings, small groups, intervention groups, and virtual learning environments. My instructional approach is standards-aligned and highly differentiated, with an emphasis on meeting students at their current level and building both skills and confidence. I use explicit instruction, inquiry and project-based learning, hands-on activities, technology, progress monitoring, and data-informed instruction to make concepts accessible and engaging for different types of learners.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have served as a Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Facilitator of Technology, and Assistant Principal, where I have supported instruction across multiple elementary grade levels and subject areas. These roles have strengthened my ability to identify learning gaps, select appropriate instructional strategies, provide enrichment for advanced learners, and adjust instruction based on student progress. I am especially comfortable working with elementary-aged students and creating supportive, engaging learning experiences tailored to individual academic needs.
