I graduated from Virginia Tech with a 3.93 GPA in chemical engineering. I was president of the honor society Omega Chi Epsilon for two years. In addition to tutoring for OXE, I tutored for several additional organizations including Alpha Chi Sigma and AICHE. I focus on conceptual understanding with my students rather than memorization. Typically I have students send their notes or material from their classes so I can adapt my knowledge your specific class and situation. I have spent many years developing a deep understanding for what mathematics and chemistry truly represent and how to best pass that on to similarly driven students. My lessons are intended for students of all levels taking trigonometry, calculus, general chemistry, and chemical engineering core classes.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I have tutored students in calculus and many precursory classes over my undergraduate career. I was president of Omega Chi Epsilon, the chemical engineering honor society, for two years where I conducted and facilitated tutoring for struggling students. I also tutored calculus, chemistry, and core chemical engineering classes for two other organizations, Alpha Chi Sigma and AICHE for several years.
Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering

For two years I was president of the Virginia Tech chapter of Omega Chi Epsilon, the national chemical engineering honor society. I achieved a 3.92 GPA in my undergraduate BS of chemical engineering and have begun my PhD in chemical engineering where I continue to tutor core chemical engineering classes. I have tutored these classes through organizations such as OXE, AXE, and AICHE for over 4 years.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I was a general chemistry studio teaching assistant at VT for two years. Here, I taught two classes per week, each consisting of 30 students. I reviewed class material weekly, proctored and graded quizzes, and offered test reviews to prepare students for their exams. Additionally, I achieved A's in every chemistry class I have taken from AP chemistry in high school through physical chemistry my junior year of undergrad.
Geometry

Geometry

Math builds on prior knowledge to a great degree. In order for me to solve many of the complex heat transfer, mass transfer, and reactor design problems in my classes, I have needed to master geometry. Surface area, perimeter, volume, angles, and characteristic length relationships are crucial for my undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Precalculus

Precalculus

As a Chemical Engineering PhD student at Virginia Tech, I have developed a strong mathematical foundation through coursework in calculus, including Calculus III, differential equations, and other advanced engineering mathematics. In addition to my academic experience, I have tutored five students individually in calculus over several years, adapting my explanations and problem-solving strategies to each student's needs. This experience has helped me learn how to break down challenging concepts, explain the reasoning behind mathematical procedures, and build students' confidence in solving problems independently. I look forward to applying these skills to help students succeed in precalculus and develop a strong foundation for future mathematics courses.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

As a Chemical Engineering PhD student at Virginia Tech, I have taken several courses involving thermodynamics and have built a strong understanding of concepts like energy balances, thermodynamic systems, and confusing thermodynamic quantities such as chemical potential or entropy. I have tutored thermodynamics specifically for about 3 years now through organizations OXE, AXE, and AICHE during my BS in chemical engineering. Now, as a PhD student in chemical engineering, I have taken an advanced thermodynamics course that has further refined my comprehension of the subject.
