Hello, I’m Angelina! I’m a geology and geophysics major at Virginia Tech, minoring in astronomy and meteorology. I graduated from Central Virginia Community College with an Associate’s in Science as part of a dual enrollment program. I am currently an officer of the Geoscience honors society at Virginia Tech and have taken quite a few upper level physics and geoscience courses.

I’ve tutored friends and classmates in preparation for tests and final exams, primarily in the geosciences. As an older sibling of a homeschooled family as well as a volunteer in VT outreach, I have experience teaching younger students of all different ages and getting them excited about science!

I am most qualified to tutor in earth sciences, especially geosciences. However, as a geophysics major, I am also comfortable teaching math and am especially confident in my abilities to teach subjects such as algebra, trigonometry, and probabilities.

I feel very strongly about students learning their subjects, not just memorizing facts. One tutoring method I particularly favor is using analogies to compare complex, abstract topics into simpler concepts that are easier to visualize. This not only simplifies a difficult, overwhelming subject, but also provides a memorable comparison to help with recollection. I have been told I have a knack for explaining complicated ideas in much simpler forms so students of different age groups can understand.

I look forward to helping students understand - not just memorize - subjects they may be struggling with. I am very flexible with timing lessons, especially in the afternoons. I will do my best to respond to messages as soon as possible, but should take no longer than 24 hours. Happy studying!
