My initial experiences with teaching was as a marksmanship coach in the Marines, which is where I taught the fundamentals of marksmanship to people with a wide range of age and experiences. I also have experience tutoring anatomy and physiology to university students in an official capacity. I am currently a volunteer literacy instructor where I teach subjects matter from basic literacy skills and technology use to advanced English and professional writing to people with cognitive deficits and english-as-a-second-language (ESL) students.
I like to take a holistic approach in my teaching. After working with such a wide array of students, I have learned how to more accurately tailor lessons to every skill level. For the sciences, rather than simply going over words and concepts to memorize, I like to take a neuroscientific approach and associate many concepts with each other, so the student can apply the concepts to specific situations and solidify their understanding of the material.
