Hi, I’m Drew, a passionate math and science tutor with experience helping students from elementary to college level. I’ve tutored many students through volunteer programs, earning the SSAT Leadership Award for my work, but much of my experience comes from assisting my friends and classmates. I am currently a senior mechanical engineering student at Virginia Tech with a 3.9 GPA. Recently, I worked at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics on a matter-antimatter stellarator, applying advanced concepts in physics and engineering to cutting-edge research.

My approach to tutoring focuses on understanding rather than memorization. Many students memorize processes without truly understanding the problems. I focus on helping students develop problem-solving skills so they can derive solutions independently, leading to deeper understanding and 'aha!' moments. I believe this approach builds lasting skills that not only improve academic performance but also prepare students for real-world applications. This problem-solving approach has helped me excel in my own studies, reflected by my 790/800 SAT math score and 5/5 in AP Physics 1, AP Physics C, AP Calculus AB, and AP Computer Science.

I’m very flexible with scheduling, usually available in the afternoons and evenings during the week, and anytime on weekends. I’m also adaptable in my teaching style and can accommodate both online and in-person sessions. Whether you prefer visual aids, step-by-step explanations, or hands-on practice, I’ll tailor my approach to suit your needs. I’m committed to improving my tutoring skills and welcome feedback to help me continuously grow as a tutor. I’m excited to work with new students and support you in reaching your goals!

Mechanical Engineering

Hi! I'm a junior at Virginia Tech studying Mechanical Engineering and Robotics. I've earned A's in classes such as Physics, Statics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Material Science, Differential Equations, Fluid Dynamics, Numerical Methods, Electrical Theory, Mechanical Design, and more. I've worked in the aerospace industry and on student design teams, which has given me some hands-on experience. I'd be happy to tutor any of the classes listed above or provide support wherever you're struggling.
