I am a physicist who enjoys teaching and mentoring students of all age groups, from high school to university graduate level. I have experience as a university professor teaching a variety of subjects. My expertise and previous tutoring/teaching is centered on physics and math.
I earned a PhD in Physics from West Virginia University and my first position after that was at Roanoke College where I taught astronomy, fluid mechanics, and general (calculus level) physics. I have been tutoring since I was a bachelors student myself, having helped friends and other students. improve their grades to higher than my own. I keep up with educational research in peer reviewed journals to learn best teaching practices. I have implemented many of these techniques such as active learning in my classroom and I have found it greatly improves knowledge retention and helps students from underrepresented groups feel more valued and become successful.
I am currently in the Blacksburg VA area near Virginia Tech but look forward to helping any student at any level to understand physics and math more completely. These may be scary subjects but are highly rewarding to learn. Please do not hesitate to contact me and set up a introductory session.
