About Vatsal

Bio

Over the past few years, I've taken Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Statistics courses (and their prerequisites, of course), which has given me a perspective of math I'd like to share. Currently, I'm an incoming sophomore at Purdue University majoring in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, with a 3.97 cumulative GPA. Math is the foundation of everything I do, so I make it a habit to be thorough.

I pay attention to where my students are stuck rather than just covering the material from start to finish. I can deliver lecture-based approaches to class material, but I work primarily to meet my students' individual needs, which can mean working through practice problems with them, explaining certain concepts in more depth, and directing the session based on what I think they can improve on. I've had experience tutoring students from as young as 5th grade to friends my age, which taught me to adjust my explanations to different levels of understanding.

One of my greatest joys from this time was understanding how these fields of math work, and how simple ideas can be connected to make useful theorems that contribute to how we interact with and operate within the world. I was lucky enough to have some of the best math teachers there are. If I can give even a fraction of what they did for me, I'll know I've done right by you.

I can help you work through seemingly impossible ideas. I was in your spot not too long ago, and I know how it feels to be lost. Let's figure it out together.

I received an 800/800 on the SAT Math section in October 2023 (my Junior Year), and prepared for it strategically; I know what the preparation process looks like from having experienced it, and I understand what you're going through. I've studied and taught well beyond SAT level, including Calculus and Linear Algebra. I also participated in Competitive Math for several years starting from 4th grade, which means I'm capable of breaking down the complex word problems that SAT Math is notorious for. Most of all, I find where the actual gap is before working on anything else with my students; there's no point practicing algebra if the real issue is misreading word problems under time pressure.
