Hello, My name is Michelle. I am an experienced special education teacher with 20+ years teachings students with various needs. I graduated from Salisbury State University with my Bachelors in Sociology. From there I went on to earn my Masters in Special Education with a focus on working with students with Emotional Disabilities and then a Masters in Education/Teacher Leadership. Finally, I earned my Certification in Education Administration and Leadership.
Through the years I have worked with students in elementary through adult supporting, coaching and guiding my students toward independence. My goal in education has always been to empower my students so that they feel that any test that they are given whether it be academic, social skills, or life skills they would be able to tackle and succeed with or without support sometimes.
I have also worked as a family consultant for a company that supported families and children with autism. I would work with the parents and developing individual plans for their children or child so that they can develop more life/social skills in the home. We worked on things such as emptying the dishwasher, doing laundry, appropriate, eating etiquette, etc. my goal since I started teaching 20+ years ago has always been to put the student first and meet them where they are so that they can develop and build all the skills necessary for the future.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my experience in background. I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you in your needs and growth.
Michelle
