Bio

I have a PhD in chemistry from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN) and a BS in chemistry from a liberal arts university in ID (Northwest Nazarene University). During my tenures at both Vanderbilt and NNU, I tutored high school and college students in math and science. My favorite part about tutoring is watching students begin to grasp material they may have been struggling with or gain more confidence in their skills.

I have previous experience tutoring high school students in both Algebra 1 and 2, but would be confident in tutoring college level as well.

I have experience tutoring and teaching several types of chemistry and chemical biology courses to both elementary, middle, and high school students as well as university students. I have done chemical and biological research for over 10 years and bring the wisdom of hands on experience and life application to studying these subjects.

Extremely knowledgeable and easy going

Dorothy was very easy going and easy to talk to, she made me feel comfortable with my lack of understanding the moment we met. I am working on a college level Chem 1 course, and Dorothy helped me to understand many concepts that I was not grasping. I am only in week two, but she helped me to understand the periodic table and how to use it; understanding the composition of atoms and the math involved with protons, electrons and neutrons; empirical formulas and ions. Dorothy was a huge help and we scheduled a second session before we finished the first - highly recommend her help!

SHE IS AMAZING! She goes through what you don't know slowly and explains it multiple ways. She is super patient and kind.
