I've tutored for many years, even while working crazy hours as a management consultant. I tutor because I love teaching. My happiest moments are when students come to me and tell me how well they've done.

I have experience tutoring at the middle and high school level. At these levels I've taught math, chemistry and physics. At the college level I've taught math. I've taught professionals of all ages applying to grad school in the GMAT and GRE.

At the middle and high school levels, my approach is to follow the curriculum of the school (and go beyond if the curriculum is weak.) At this level it is a combination of working though foundation concepts and doing practice exercises. I am a strong believer in practice makes perfect at this level. It teaches students the different tricks of problems solving that they can then apply to more difficult problems. I myself took the IB exams and scored 7/7 in HL math, chemistry and physics as well as 800 in SAT I/II math and SAT II chemistry so I understand what it takes to do well at this level.

At the college level, my approach is to follow the curriculum and working on foundations and exercises given to students. I like to work through the concepts and then example problems, then allow students to attempt their homework before helping.

With standardized tests, my general approach is working through questions that students have difficulty with and generalizing the approach for similar problems. It is rarely a matter of poor foundations.

I have an engineering background (EECS) and understand the importance of learning the foundations of any subject. With practice and hard work I think most everybody can excel at most any subject. I hope you give me the chance to work with you or your kids!

My daughter finally understands chemistry

We have had two lessons with Ahmed and have been extremely impressed. My daughter has had a really hard time with Chemistry. Her previous tutor only addressed the specific questions she was studying, So while she could get answers to those questions correct, she still didn't understand the basic principals involved with understanding the subject. So when test day came she was thrown for a loop by questions that weren't specifically like the ones she had studied. Ahmed requested a detailed summary of what our daughter was working on prior to their lesson and structured a session that helped her to actually understand the subject. She came away from their first session finally understanding the subject. This gave her the confidence she needed on the next test. Even if when faced with a new question or formula she was able to figure out the right answer based on what she had reviewed with Ahmed. We will definitely be continuing with him and look forward to working with him on SAT prep as well.

Good instructor

Ahmed was very helpful with my statistics class homework. He explains things very well. Sometimes his handwriting could be a little messy and hard to read but overall he did a very good job helping me understand frustrating concepts and I walked away understanding exactly what I needed to.
